As you can see from the picture, it’s like Japan, but it’s not. It’s actually in Balamban, Cebu. These color-coded plants here are called Mayana. It is a tropical plant often cultivated for its colorful and ornamental leaves rather than for culinary or medicinal uses. The leaves of the Mayana plant come in various vibrant hues, making it a popular choice for gardens and landscaping.

Buwakan ni Alejandra has maroon, green, and yellow-green colored-mayana. There are other flowers and some picturesque highlights for tourists to post pictures of.

Some bridges for trails were also strategically placed to help tourists get a better view of the whole flower garden.

And as much as you want to pick the flowers for yourself as a remembrance, you can’t do that because there’s a hefty penalty! Yes, and that is P500.00.

So, always remember not to let those intrusive thoughts in!

Straight from the entrance, you’ll also find the comfort room for males and females. It’s also worth noting that they’re highly maintained, super clean, and don’t have any bad odors.

If you want to grab a few snacks, there’s a small cafe on the side where you can order coffee, biscuits, or junk food. However, if you’re starving from a trip and want to satisfy your cravings, just head a few steps to their restaurant, and there you can order some really delicious food.

But make sure you have enough money, as their food can be really expensive!

Buwakan ni Alejandra is also perfect for a quick escape or unwinding by yourself. If you’re tired from work or want to clear your thoughts, it’s one of the best places to go.

Traveling there during December or early January, when it’s cold, will give you the impression that you’re in Baguio. The place is located in a mountainous area, so there’s a significant drop in temperature. Fresh air will also fill your lungs. Make sure you bring a jacket with you!

How to get there:

From Toledo City to Buwakan ni Alejandra in Balamban, it will be 29 kilometers, and it will take you around 45 to 50 minutes by car or motorcycle via Antonio Y De Pio National Highway and the Cebu Transcentral Highway.
