Tucked away off the coast of Pinamungajan, Cebu, Campalabo Sandbar is a stunning, yet often overlooked, natural wonder. Located just a 20-minute boat ride from the mainland, this pristine strip of white sand emerges from the crystal-clear waters of the Tañon Strait, offering visitors an idyllic escape.
A Unique Natural Phenomenon
Campalabo Sandbar is a one-hectare stretch of white sand that reveals itself during low tide, while during high tide, it shrinks in size, making it an ever-changing spectacle. Surrounded by a rich marine ecosystem, the sandbar provides an exceptional view of Pinamungajan’s coastline, with the towering Mt. Kanlaon of Negros Island standing majestically in the background.
Marine Life and Snorkeling Paradise
Situated near a marine sanctuary, Campalabo is an excellent spot for snorkeling. The vibrant underwater world is teeming with marine life, offering snorkelers a glimpse into the diverse aquatic species that thrive in the area. Just a few meters from the sandbar, you’ll find a remarkable two-kilometer-long rock formation known locally as “paril.” This natural structure, formed after the destructive Typhoon Amy in 1951, adds another layer of intrigue to the already captivating landscape.
How to Get There
Reaching Campalabo Sandbar is an adventure in itself. From Cebu City, make your way to the South Bus Terminal and catch a bus heading to Pinamungajan.
